The “Young Barristers” join an announcement of “Criminal Law Reforms Alliance”

The "Young Barristers" join an announcement of Georgian alliance of Criminal Law Reforms demanding an immediate reaction on death of a prisoner.

The organization publishes a joint announcement invariably: “According to the reports, A.M, born on 1988 passed away in N14 Geguti Prison on March 23rd at about 8:30 a.m. Medical expertise has been appointed; however, as reported, the convict committed suicide.  

Recent death facts of prisoners in the Geguti prison cause a lot of concerns. Unfortunately, this is a second fact of suicide in March. On March 4th a violent death fact has been indicated in N14 Geguti Prison. According to the initial reports, the dead prisoner had multiple injuries on head and throat.

 “Criminal Law Reforms Alliance” condole with family members of the dead prisoner and mention that an effective investigation must be held on the fact in order to reveal reasons of prisoner’s death.

The Alliance call the Ministry of Corrections in order to take preventive measures in the prison to prevent prisoners’ death facts with various reasons.

“Criminal Law Reforms Alliance” offer a meeting to the Ministry of Corrections in order to discuss the problems, among them system problems causing heavy results in N14 prison facility. The Alliance is interested in getting acquainted with conditions in prisons and activities preventing suicides.” – the announcement says.
