24 June, 2014

Georgian government’s jurisdictive department made the contract with “Liberty Bank” JSC accessible for public. Government’s jurisdictive department approved “Young Barristers”-s addressal, upon which information was requested, on which governmental law “Liberty Bank” provides Georgian citizens with pension and other funding. The organization got #1051 governmental approval on May 30, 2012, which is signed by ex-premier minister Nika Gilauri, by which the agreement between Agency of Social Service and “Liberty Bank” on favorable banking services, being provided by governmental contract (#8/P, July 7, 2009 and #2/P March 9, 2010), is being cut from July 1st, 2012 and then continuing these same services for granted. It was also noted in the contract, that any further changes in this agreement would only require positions from two sides without any governmental interaction. Georgian government would intervene with the contract only in case of its’ early cancelation or any violation.

At the moment, „Young Barristers“are working on credibility of the document issued by the government, which will be presented to public in the nearest future.

As it is known, “Young Barristers”, on May 21, 2014, made a public statement about the rough violations of citizen rights and shallow attitude towards their interests from the side of “Liberty Bank” JSC, upon which they promised to investigate this case thoroughly and form a public company for it.

On the evaluation of co-founder and leader of the organization, Archil Kaikatsishvili, “Liberty Bank” JSC, on today’s Georgian market has a dominant and monopolistic position, which is created by ex-leading party. It might be possible, that bank at the moment is carrying the interests of the opposing party, because it’s ex-general director and active monitoring executive is an ex-minister, ex-premier minister and one of the leaders of ex-leading party. On the basis of this evaluation, the organization thinks that the government made a subjective decision concerning “Liberty Bank”, leaving all the other banks in non-equal state.

Young Barristers“ will make a statement concerning “Liberty Bank”, which upon the response, will be send to the Georgian government.
