The “Young Barristers” awarded participants of the project “Together for EU Choice”

The “Young Barristers” finished the project “Together for EU Choice” with regional closing ceremony in Marneuli municipality. The four-month period of the project was summarized during the event and were rewarded those schoolchildren who have participated in analytical articles’ competition on the topic: “Georgia on the Road of European Union”.

Analytical articles were presented by 12 pupils from the educational field of Marneuli municipality. The winners of the competition are: Aisha Badalova (#5 Marneuli public school, 12th  class), Diana Bolkvadze (Marneuli public school of the village Maradisi, 11th class), Genadi Botchoidze (Marneuli public school of the village Ordjonikidze, 11th class), Salome Zurabiani (#5 Marneuli public school, 12th  class), Teona Chachanidze (#5 Marneuli public school, 11th  class), Vladimer Chkhitunidze (Marneuli public school of the village Saimerlo, 11th class). Also, there were nominated successful authors of the paper on the final meeting: Gvantsa Talakhadze (Marneuli municipality public school of the village Tsereteli, 12th class), Ketevan Gurgenishvili (#5 Marneuli municipality public school, 11th  class), Mariam Shaorshadze (#5 Marneuli municipality public school, 11th  class), Irakli Devadze (#5 Marneuli municipality public school, 11th  class) and Dea Naveriani (#5 Marneuli municipality public school, 12th  class).

The “Young Barristers” help the final meeting of the project in Akhaltsikhe municipality where revealed the winners and successful authors on the topic of the competition. Analytical articles were presented by 7 pupils and the wineers are: Nana Akopiani (#3 Armenian public school of Akhaltsikhe, 11th class), Maka Manvelishvili (#1 public school of Vale, 12th class), Ana Maisuradze (Akhaltsikhe public school of the village Muskhi, 10th class), Lasha Narimanishvili (#1 Akhaltsikhe public school, 12th class). The competition also revealed successful authors of the articles: Natia Kakachishvili (#1 public school of Vale, 11th class), Mariam Khatidze (#5 Armenian public school of Akhaltsikhe, 12th class) and Rebeka Torosiani (#5 public school of Vale, 12th class). The authors have received diplomas, Tablet PCs and handbooks as well.

In the project: "Together for EU Choice" participated 19 schoolchildren from the target group regions. Project participants were awarded with diplomas, Tablet PCs and handbooks as well and all the articles have been published in the special brochure by the organization. Within the project there was an active communication with non-educational institutions in the region, held a public lecture on the Georgia-EU relations, was published informational newspaper on the issue of Georgia’s European choice, which was spread to the local residents by the project participants. The final phase of the project was a contest whose all participants works were published in the broshure.

According to the “Young Barristers”, similar projects in minority regions are essential in the future in order the population to understand the responsibility and importance better, which is related to Georgia’s European choice.

The project was supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, Office of the State Minister of Georgia on European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, the Parliamentary Committee on European Integration, Office of the State Attorney of Samtskhe-Javakheti and Kvemo Kartli, Marneruli and Akhaltsikhe municipality councils, local educational Resource Centres. The project was also supported by the Delegation of European Union to Georgia.

The project was launched on May 5, the first meeting was prepared on July 1 in Akhaltsikhe and on July 3 in Marneuli municipality. The project director was Nino Isakadze. Initiative was implemented in the grant project framework of LEPL Children and Youth Development Foundation of the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs of Georgia.
