The organization “Young Barristers” addresses to the Ministry of Finance of Georgia to study the issue of good faith of gambling activities and focuses on the protection of consumer rights in the country.

According to the statement of co-founder and chief-executive of the “Young Barristers” – Archil Kaikatsishvili, Tbilisi City Court initiates an important and precedental case hearing, which deals with citizen of Turkey Alijan Taipuni case, permanent residence of Georgia.

Alijan Taipuni, on May 27, 2014, has won 45 680.59 thousand GEL in result of lottery in the totalizator “Crystalbet” owneb by the Ltd. “Superbet 2014”. The company refused to pay the full amount of won ticket, and issued only a portion of the winning - 10,000 GEL, and refused to compensate the remaining 35 680 59 GEL for various reasons.

Lawyer’s group of the “Young Barristers”, which is going to protect the legitimate interests of Alijan Taipuni in the court, indicating that the company's position is unreasonable, because Alijan Taipuni, during the game, consistently complied with all the actions that in case of winning should become the basis for recieving the money. Citizen knows Georgian language and for years is the consumer of the totalizator “Crystalbet”, however according to the factual circumstances of the case, the company demonstrated complete indifference towards the issue, selected Alijan Taipuni based on ethnic grounds and did not take into consideration reasonable terms, which dealt with the possibility of reaching an agreement.

The “Young Barristers” remarks, that Alijan Taipuni has requested documentary materials in written form, which confirms further actions regarding purchased ticket in the totalizator (Video tape, identification of the ticket issuer, the content of the dialogue with the ticket issuer), however the company has not provided the requested information and nor sufficient communication with the party. According to their unofficial position, winning procedure was not agreed with the administration and the governing body of “Superbet 2014”, and the company blamed the “Young Barristers” in incompetence and activation of Alijan Taipuni.

According to the evaluation of the organization, the action of the company is unjustified and unreasonable. There is an attempt to unfulfill obligation and basis for unjustified enrichment, while the part of the winnings - 35 59 680 GEL, rightfully belongs to Alijan Taipuni. The organization requires third party – the “Overtime”, to get involved in the case, which is responsible for the winnings according to the regulations of the company “Superbet 2014”. Additionaly, attorneys of Alijan Taipuni requesting questioning as a witness person who is winning ticket issuer, whose name, until now, the company does not makes public.

The first trial on Alijan Taipuni case will held in Tbilisi City Court, on October 27, 2014, at 17:00. The case will be heard by the judge Giorgi Sulakadze. The organization to monitor the court proceedings, appeals to the Turkish Embassy in Georgia, the Office of Public Defender and the Ministry of Finance of Georgia. The interests of Alijan Taipuni will be protected by Archil kaikatsishvili and Ana Kiknadze.
