The NGOs – “Young Barristers” and “Georgian Youth Parliament” request European Parliament

The NGOs – “Young Barristers” and “Georgian Youth Parliament” request  European Parliament to help deal with the results of the disastrous flooding in Tbilisi. The organizations have submitted   appeals to the following leaders of 5 different political parties of the European Parliament: Manfred Weber - EPP Group leader, Gianni Pittella – Chair of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats  group , Guy Verhofstadt – the Chair of the Group of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe, Co-chair of the Group of the Greens/ European Free Alliance and Syed Kamall – Chair of the European Conservatives and Reformists Group. Today, the founder of the “Georgian Youth Parliament”, Teona Lavrelashvili will personally meet the members of European Parliament – Sandra Kalniete, Jaromir Stetinas, Jacek Saryusz-Wolski,  Tunne Kelam and others to discuss possibilities for the creation of the special fund supporting  victims of the tragedy. Archil Kaikatsishvili, a Head of “Young Barristers” states, that it is very important to make joint efforts to assist effected families and now, in such a hard period in the history of our capital, support  by  European Parliament is even more important.                                                                                                                    

“Young Barristers” expresses its deep sorrow and sincere condolence to the deceased  families and families affected by the disastrous flooding. At the same time, the organization is ready to provide free legal aid for citizens, affected by the disaster.  Our citizens have lost homes, property documents, identification and other legal documents are destroyed and their restoration need specific legal procedures. The lawyers with the organization are ready to assist citizens and help  prepare and submit relevant applications to the state agencies.     

“Young Barristers” joins civil solidarity activities supporting affected population. Organization members delivered food to the volunteers involved in the reconstruction work in the disaster area. In addition, the organization units with the partner NGOs: “Youth Center”, “Position”, “Center for Civil Involvement”, Information Agency “Aqcenti”, charitable organizations: ”Kind-village” and  “Gift the Future Smile” to assist the citizens affected from disaster in record of humanitarian aid as well as with physical abilities of each member of the organization.
