The “Young Barristers” present a judicial analysis of Khudonhess project

Non-governmental organization the “Young Barristers” will study judicial issues of Khudonhess project and will present its analysis. It was announced by the organization at a briefing of January 18th, 2014.

According to head of the “Young Barristers” Archil Kaikatsishvili, society continues to discuss advisability of implementation of Khudonhess project in the municipality of Mestia, although society is less informed about important components of project’s judicial aspects. Correspondingly, lawyers’ team of the organization is ready to study several important issues of the project: In the process of constructing Khudonhess, how well are safety issues presented by the project, how will a process of eviction and compensation be implemented, who is responsible on the process – Government or the constructing company, how will cultural heritage be saved, among them international experience, what is mentioned in standards of World Bank about distributing compensation, etc. 

In the frames of the project monitoring, the “Young Barristers” will hold meetings with representatives of different public departments, municipality governments and will meet local population. The organization will prepare two conferences in Tbilisi and Svaneti, where issues and monitoring results will be discussed. The organization, in the frames of monitoring, will present a statement and a recommendation package.

The “Young Barristers” will announce the research results of “Khudonhess project judicial analysis” in April, 2014. The research process will last for three months and society will be informed about judicial arguments and methods of approach.
