The “Young Barristers” – The court is not independent of assignments

12 February, 2014

Non-governmental organization the “Young Barristers” have an initiative of more political rulings for independence of court system and freedom, stating, that in the court system an issue of inner belief still depends on political processes. This was announced by the co-founder of the organization – Mr. Archil Kaikatsishvili on press-club of “Reporter” on February 12th, 2014.

The organization pays attention to the court rulings concerning cases of former politicians and states, that some of the judgments are often not proved. The organization also pays attention to conditions which hinder the dependence of court and states, that there have been attempts by the head of Supreme Court of Georgia – Mr. Kote Kublashvili of interference in famous cases. The organization will pay attention to this condition and defines, that the fact of Mr.Konstantine Kublashvili being the head of the Supreme Court raises the influence of political opposition on justice. Mr.Konstantine Kublashvili cannot use the political neutrality, since his brother – Mr.Pavle Kublashvili is one of the leaders of the opposition party, which puts the autonomy and political independence of the court under doubt.

The “Young Barristers” believe that the Georgian justice has a very important value for the process of seeking justice, though court rulings on famous cases state, that the Georgian justice is far away from the principals of independence. The “Young Barristers” studied the omissions of the justice and prepared 10 public questions towards the head of the Supreme Court – Mr. Konstantine Kublahvili. The Supreme court denied to participate in the project of the organization” institutional dialogue in executive, legislative and judicial bodies”, therefore, the “Young Barristers” will publish all the questions concerning the independence of court and the neutrality of its first person next week.
