According to the monitoring by “Young Barristers”, the leading candidate in the second round of self-government elections, on the candidancy of the city mayor, is the candidate of coalition „Georgian Dream” – Davit Narmania.
On the basis of selective voters’ questioning in 50 polling stations across 10 region of Tbilisi, 52.6% of the citizens pointed, that they voted for Davit Narmania’s candidancy, and 29.7% stated their position for the candidate of the opposing party “United National Movement” – Nika Melia. In total, the organization questioned 1000 voters. Amongst them, 17.7% of voters restrained themselves on answering the stated question: “which candidate of mayor did you show support to?”
In addition to it, as a result of monitorin 200 polling stations, in Tbilisi, according 19:00 data, 34.7% of the voters showed up on the elections.
On the basis of organisation’s evaluation, second round of elections in Tbilisi concluded without any essential violations of law. Problems with the procedure at some of the polling stations had no effect on voter’s choice.
For the information: on July 11th, the organization “Young Barristers”, at three populous sites, held a public campaign concerning second round of local elections. The organization offered people special newsletter made in accordance to the topic – “self-government – use your right”. The campaign served for raising voter’s awareness and informing the importance of their participation in elections.
