Everyone connected to “Silkneti case” should be responsible

The organization “Young Barristers”, regarding the high public interest, requires lifting of "classified top secret” on the case of the arrest of high-ranking officials of the Ministry of Defence of Georgia.

Like the head of the organization, Archil Kaikatsishvili said at the press conference today, all the factual circumstances must be determined regarding the so-called “Silknet case", as the crime carries the signs of corruption. Sould start the control over the implementation of the state tenders, to make the questions regarding the purchase process in compliance with the law.

Allegation towards the high-ranking officials of Ministry of Defense raises questions about ineffective working of ministry and needs an answer from the minister's office for possible criminal activity. It is mportant the investigation to determine whether there was systemic corrupt conduct and all public servants shoulb be responsible, who regarding the case will be proved by the investigation, personaly connected to the issue.

The organization, since 2013, studing the facts of poisoning the soldiers in the Ministry of Defense and publicly stated that the implementation of the state tenders in public institutions should be provided monitoring by appropriate agencies. In addition, the organization made several applications ​​on the issue of good faith of the company - “Silkneti”. The organization points out the importance of high-ranking officials’ arrest, that the investigation should be interested in what a mutually beneficial agreement was between the company and the state budget, against detainees.

The “Young Barristers” remarks, the presumption of innocence should be taking into account in the case, however, the severity of the crime and the legal responsibility of the Ministry of Defense officials could not exclude the issue of their liability. After the political changes in October 1, 2012, the organization believes that the arrest is resonant and challenges  the government policy.
