The organization “Young Barristers” positively evaluates the proposal of the President of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili, to discuss the issue of effective implementation process of Association Agreement with the EU and substantional package with NATO, in order to eximine the inviolability of the country's foreign policy.
According to statement of the “Young Barristers”, a new political and legal reality of the country, should be considered as an opportunity of strengthening democratic institutions, enhancemen the role of public and democratic values.
The organization believes that the society should not accept as a reality the statements regarding the potential changes in the foreign policy and possible danger, because political manipulation on the issue is obvious. making the agreement of association with Euro Union is Georgian Government’s new act, because from June 27, 2014, there must be gradual change in established political, social and economical life. The country, by signing the agreement of association, creates a new jurisdictive space and opportunity for the citizens, and it will strengthen democracy and freedom rights in Georgia. The country is obliged to take advantage of these values and promote their settlement.
The “Young Barristers” appeales to the Prime Minister of Georgia, to choose correctly the new Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia. The organization estimates that now more important thing is who will be the Minister of Foreign Affairs, who must embody the country's European choice and firmness of foreign policy, in order to convince the Georgian society and the international community.
In addition, the “Young Barristers” remarks, that will enhance the launched process of monitoring from 13 October 2014 and offers to the public the results of activities of 19 Ministries, which deals with the the implementation of the evaluation plan of obligations under the Association Agreement with the EU.
The organization, at the current stage, selected the folowoing 5 ministries - the Ministry of Labour, Health and Social Affairs, Ministry of Education and Science, Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure, Ministry ofInternal Affairs and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in respect of which the following types of public information has been requested:
- What strategy has your Ministry to fulfill the obligations under the Association Agreement. Please provide the strategy document.
- Within the competence of yout Ministry, what reforms are planned for implementation process of the EU Association Agreement.
- Asking whether start the implementation of any of the reform, from obligations stipulated by the Association implementation and on what stage the current process is.
The “Young Barristers”, taking into consideration the high public interest, will deepen the monitoring process and will request the public information from all Minirtries. The organization will publish the results of the monitorins after analyzing of received information
