“Young Barristers” attending seminar of the European Convention on Human Rights

Due to international human rights day, “Young Barristers” will be attending three days long seminar at Training Center of Justice in Georgia. The first day of seminar was opened by deputy minister of justice, Aleqsandre Baramadze, and representative of German legal development foundation, Amalia Vukert. The seminar was attended by the representatives of Ministry of Justice, Prosecution, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Corrections, “Legal Aid Service”, general court and attorneys. Minister of Justice, Tea Tsulukiani, held a lecture about article 6 of the European Convention of Human Rights – the right of fair trial.

The topic of seminar was concerning articles of European Convention of Human Rights. The lectures will include topics such as the right to life, prohibition of torture, the right to liberty and security, personal and family security and the rights of appeal in criminal matters. Among the presenters are judge of federal administrative court, Oto Malmani, and professor of public administration under federal professional school, Michaela Vitinger.

The main goal of seminars is to review crucial issues of convention and supply the participants with the information of the latest decisions taken by the European Court of Human Rights. The knowledge and usage of the rights set by European Convention of Human Rights and case laws of European Court based on them will contribute to the development of the justice system and law in Georgia.

International human rights day seminar is supported by Georgian training center of justice and German legal development foundation (IRZ).
