The organization “Young Barristers” attended international conference held in Tbilisi on the issue of role of lawyers and their professional guarantees. During three sessions according the agenda, discussions centered on the role of the lawyer in the justice process, procedural guarantees for the lawyer's profession, Professions necessary internship period and the necessary standards for becoming professional, certain guarantees of right to defense in criminal proceedings. At the conference Georgian lawyers and invited guests were introduced to Georgian and European experts' opinions on the role of the lawyer's profession in the administration of justice and the procedural guarantees of the lawyer's profession.
The conference was attended by EU Ambassador to Georgia, Janos Herman, the president of the European Bar associations and legal associations Maria Slazak, the Minister of Justice of Georgia Thea Tsulukiani, the Chairman of the Supreme Court of Georgia Konstantine Kublashvili. The meeting was opened by Chairman of the Georgian Bar Association Zaza Khatiashvili. The conference was held within the framework of the EU-funded project, “Supporting Criminal Justice Reform in Georgia ".
