Archil Kakikatsishvili will be guiding the advisory council of parliament’s human rights committee

The new chairman of scientific-advisory board, existing under Georgian parliament’s human rights and civil integration committee, is chosen to be a co-founder and leader of organization “Young Barristers”, Archil Kaikatsishvili. Archil Kaikatsishvili substituted Imeda Dvalidze, who was at the head of the board during 2014. According to the regulations of the council, the chairman is chosen from six-month rotation rule and is released by the chairman of parliament’s human rights and civil integration committee. One and the same person can be consequently chosen as a chairman only twice. Council unifies units in non-governmental and international fields, as well as specialists and experts. Takes part in elaborating recommendations, proposals and programs for human rights. Supports the effective implementations of reforms concerning human rights.

According to the chairman of parliament’s human rights and civil integration committee’s scientific-advisory board, Archil Kaikatsishvilis statement, in 2015, to improve the effectiveness of the committee, specific events will take place. Providing the subgroups of the committee with appropriate research tasks will become the priority. Various problems and circumstances with human rights will be analyzed and recommendations and legislative proposals will be developed for the parliament. The council will support the implementations of existing strategies and action plans in the human rights protection field. The quality of social interaction will grow and cooperation areal will be broadened to various specialists in the field, including international organizations and donors.

The goal of parlaiment’s human rights and civil integration committee’s scientific-advisory board support of civil integration, protection of women’s, persons with disabilities, children’s, refugees, minorities, persons in custody’s rights, liberalization of criminal law, support of regional civil sector, the protection of socially vulnerable citizen’s, labor, citizens living in the conflict zones, emigrants and property rights. The council is active from 6th of February, 2014. Currently, the council unifies more than 40 NGOs and expert groups.

Together with being a chairman of parlaiment’s human rights and civil integration committee’s scientific-advisory board, Archil Kaikatsishvili will continue the leadership of “Young Barristers”.
