The “Young Barristers” - 67% of respondents demands faster reforms from the state

The organization “Young Barristers” presented results of sociological survey on the issue: “Institutional trust rates in community – 2014”.

According to statement of the “Young Barristers” main sociologist – Nino Gatchava, in the survey people were asked to name the institution to which the trust existed. The question was about what they would like to strengthen, as a priority in the future. The question dealt with the quality of the human rights protection and democracy in 2014, in Georgia. Citizens responded to the question of the assessment of the reforms. Respondents answered about public attitude towards the country's foreign policy course.

According results of the sociological survey of the “Young Barristers”, citizens named institution, to which, in 2014, revealed the trust rating:

  1. The Government of Georgia - 56.6%
  2. The Parliament of Georgia - 22.4%
  3. Civil sector - 8%
  4. The President of Georgia - 4%
  5. Media sector - 3.6%
  6. Diplomatic Corps –3.4%
  7. The Judicial Authorities - 1.9%
  8. Political parties - 1.1%
  9. Bank sector - 0.6%
  10. None - 0.4%

On the question: "Which institution strengthening is a priority?", results are as follows:

  1. The Judicial Authorities - 61%
  2. The Parliament of Georgia - 16.6%
  3. The Parliament of Georgia - 6.4%
  4. The Parliament of Georgia - 5.3%
  5. Media sector - 4.7%
  6. Civil sector - 2.2%
  7. Political parties - 1.8%
  8. Diplomatic Corps - 1%
  9. Bank sector - 0.9                         

Citizens assessed human rights protection and democracy in 2014, in Georgia. 41% of respondents believe that the human rights protection and democracy "has not changed" in the country, 25% think it is "strengthened",14% believe that "weakened", while 20% of respondents consider that regarding the mentioned, "do not know".

67% of respondents participating in the sociological survey think it is "necessary to speed" the state reforms, 18% of respondents believe that the reforms are "in consistent with the public interest",10% "is not informed about ongoing modification" and 5% of inquired respondents stated that the current state reforms "have no impact on standard of living".

Sociological survey of the “Young Barristers” was held on December 10, 2014, in three parts of Tbilisi – Rustaveli Avenue, Saakadze Square and Agmashenebeli Str. The survey respondents were selected at random. T 700 people participated in the poll.

Survey of the “Young Barristers” prepared by an independent initiative of the organization. This was the second sociological campaign results prepared by the organization in 2014.
