In July of 2012, when with my university friends and like-minded people, established the NGO "Young Barristers" and we took for measure the values, which best represents human rights protection. This is the dignity, liberty and equality. We said that respect for human rights must begin with the individual's dignity. Only a sense of dignity in the society can establish democratic relationships and create authorized state. Therefore, for us it is not an idealistic approach to implement dignity, liberty and equality principles into practice. Society can change the state, time, approaches, life, if we take the three most important measures dignity, liberty and equality as the basis for the present and for the future.
My particular responsibility comes when each member of the “Young Barristers", feels and sees the significant social function, which exists towards the activities and different themes prepared by the organization. Therefore, this might be the possible reason why it is difficult to be the member of the “Young Barristers”, as our activities are in the scrutiny of the public and we feel the importance of confidence and respect of the principles. From my point of view, "Young Barristers” has become a brand today that has a leading position among activities of the youth NGOs. Such assessments objectively derived from the 2012, 2013 and 2014 from a form of activity. Our strategic proceedings and clerical work, civil engagement, monitoring, research, projects, observation mission, sociological direction, conferences and presentations on topics of high public importance, initiatives, recommendations and proposals, the parliamentary involvement and institutional dialogue with the executive, legislative, judicial authorities, wide area of cooperation with professional and international organizations is nothing more than opportunities of determining the success of an organization with young biography. In addition, it has to be noted - every interesting step of the organization is connected with the name of every person who in different period fulfilled their duties. We are creating together biography and mission of the "Young Barristers” the fulfillment of which, will be the task of every generation of the organization.
2014 year was distinguished and productive for work of the "Young Barristers”. Beginning with the precedent court decisions, there was not a single event or fact, in relation to which, our own vision was not presented. Maybe there were some deficiencies in our activities as it is natural during working process. We would like to take into consideration every advice and opinion, which will make activities of the "Young Barristers” even more interesting in the future. By the end of 2014, the organization by the decision of Children and Youth Development Foundation was named as “the most active non-governmental organization of 2014”, which is motivational for each member of the “Young Barristers” and a desire to get even better results through 2015.
I would like to pay special thanks to staff of the organization for faithful work, which led to a successful 2014 year of the “Young Barristers”. Of course, the report of the year contains only main accents and the document does not fully reflect every activity of the organization, even some insignificant circumstances. When we talk about the role of lawyer, human rights defender, I always remember the words of the Patriarch at the meeting during student time. "Why did you choose such a difficult profession? - Probably, with desire to improve country"- said Patriarch to Tbilisi State University Law Faculty students. Perhaps, that is why we formed the “Young Barristers”, that is why we are now in the profession. That is why we work and support the people who need most our profession, our help, and our hope.
The “Young Barristers” wish you a successful and interesting 2015 year.
Archil Kaikatsishvili
In the name of Founding Board of the “Young Barristers”.
