The “Young Barristers” got acquainted with the activities of the Kobuleti Municipal Council.

The organization “Young Barristers”  met  the Head of the Kobuleti Municipal  Council, Sulkhan Oqropiridze, within the framworks of the Institutional Dialogue. The dialogue touched upon the issues of providing responsible and transparent self-governance , the defects in the process of self-governance due to the new Local Self-Government Code,  ongoing and scheduled infrastructural projects of the district, local NGOs’ involvement  in the process of self-governing, human resources policy, tourist environment . In addition, the organization expressed it’s interest in the issue of the local mortgage lenders, affected by  the war of August  2008  and the  municipality’s activities aiming at resolving  the problem.         

The “Young Barristers” appealed  to the Head of the Kobuleti Municipal Council for supporting the project statement. According to the Chief-executive of the organization, Archil Kaikatsishvili, the organization represents a project, increasing social awareness of  the municipal  public school students. The project considers creation of the summer school, where the students will have opportunity to attend the seminars by recognized law specialist, regarding the issues of  freedom of speech, freedom of religion and the essence and importance of civil rights and freedoms generally. An opening on the promotion  of the idea of  tolerance  will  be announced on the local level. The winners will be awarded.                             

As it has been stated by the Head of the Kobuleti Municipal Council, the Municipal Self Governance will support the initiatives of the organization, aiming at increasing local students’ civil awareness. In this record, the organization and the Municipality have agreed on the implementation of the joint future activities.
