The organization “Young Barristers” attended a meeting of the Disciplinary Panel of the Judges of Common Courts within the frameworks of the Council of Europe programme: “Strengthening the Independence and Efficiency of the Justice System in Georgia”. The main topic of the meeting were practical issues, related to the judges’ disciplinary liability.
The result of the research, provided by the Disciplinary Panel, was represented to the meeting. The issues of the grounds for the disciplinary liability of judges, on the light of the foreign legislations and precedents and the statistics, provided by the High Council of Justice in record of disciplinary complaints, were also considered during the meeting. Review of the results of the Panel’s work and practical experience for 2004-2013, has been represented to the meeting. As a result of the discussion, held between the meeting participants, some recommendations have also been drafted. The meeting was attended by the Chair of the Supreme Court of Georgia, Nino Gvenetadze, together with other representatives of judges’ society, experts and human rights defenders.
