On May 18, 2015, relevant agreements were signed at the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Accommodation and Refugees of Georgia with the NGOs winning grant competition on the “returning migrants reintegration in Georgia”. The agreement was signed with the “Young Barristers” as well, whose grant proposal : “Legal Aid for Migrant Returning to Georgia” had won the grant competition. The “Young Barristers” represented different stages of the legal aid, offered to the migrants determined by the project and talked about the importance of the initiative support on behalf of the Government.
The competition mentioned above, initially started to support reintegration of migrants returning to Georgia. In order to achieve this goal, 400 000 GEL was allocated from the State Budget which was distributed between the grant competition winner NGOs as grants.
The review commission of the grant project positively appraised legal aid application for migrants represented by the organization “Young Barristers” and allocated 20.000 GEL for the project implementation.
According to the project, at least 16 beneficiaries are going to be provided with the relevant legal services. On the basis of the project management, it is possible to ensure legal assistance for all beneficiaries, such as : legal consultations, representations, giving directions and etc… the project aims to encourage decent reintegration of the returning migrants and to strengthen and develop non-governmental sector’s work in this direction as well .
