The organization “Young Barristers” responds to the TV statement of the former President, Mikheil Saakashvili, made on June 2, 2015, where the assessments on the issue  of the “Intellect Bank”  were made  and notes, that the Ex-president is trying to hide  crimes,  committed by his government against the “Intellect Bank” .          

According to the statements of the Head of the “Young Barristers”  and the former shareholders of the bank, the former President of Georgia is deliberately trying to mislead the society in record of the “Intellect Bank” case. Mikheil Saakashvili’s claim, as if the  “Intellect Bank” was the “wasted bank” and the Government  “did everything to protect and save” the bank ”, is beyond all criticism and represents an attempt of misinterpretation of the facts.                                                           

According to the “Young Barristers”, all the evidences,  existing in the case,  lead to the following circumstances  - In December 10, 2006 , the  Provisional Administration, created by the National bank of Georgia, together with the Special Operative Department (SOD) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs”, broke into the “Intellect Bank”. The  Provisional Administration was headed by the current President of the National Bank of Georgia, Giorgi Kadagidze. According to the operating law, the Provisional Administration  has legal right to enter the bank, only  if there is an urgent need for improving it’s financial situation. However, all the evidences prove, that there was no such necessity for  the “Intellect Bank”. Every decision made  by Giorgi Kadagidze, was directed  to  the  bank bankruptcy . Yet, it is a fact, that the Provisional Administration from the moment of its entrance ,had  changed security guards, locked employees of the bank in the building for the  period 2 days and nights and didn’t allow them  leave  the  bank territory;  employees were forced to disclose  information about the bank and  sign documents, created by the Provisional Administration by  using force, personal  threats and blackmail . 

According to the “Young Barristers’, the statement of the former president, that the “Government has done everything to save the Bank”, is nothing more but a  lie. On the contrary, the Provisional Administration of the National Bank had Directly broken into the “Intellect bank”, carrying out harmful and illegal actions and in the end sold it to the JCS “Bank of Georgia” for the symbolic price – 1 GEL. The “Young Barristers” demands prompt and effective investigation of the case, including raising the issue of the legal liability of both, the former and the currant Presidents of the National Bank of Georgia, Roman Gorsiridze and Giorgi Kadagidze, as far as the National Bank was deliberately  trying to implement such measures, that would harm  the bank. 

The case of the “Intellect Bank” is now under  consideration of the Department of Investigation of Offences Committed in Legal Proceedings of  the Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia. The “Young Barristers” is carrying out advocacy over the case since March, 2015.
