On June 18, 2015 Archil Kaikatsishcili, a Head of the NGO “Young Barristers”, participated in the work of the Scientific Advisory Council of the Criminal Law at the Supreme Court of Georgia. A very important casuistic case was discussed during the meeting. At the stage of the essential consideration of the criminal case, the judge refused to examine those, whose interrogation transcript had been declared as an admissible evidence during pre-trial interrogation, providing that prosecution had failed to transfer to the defense full information regarding evidences to be represented to the court 5 days before the trial. In addition, the fact of submission of the interrogation transcript, doesn’t mean that the party wants to actually interrogate them at the stage of the essential consideration of the case. The Supreme Court will take into consideration different views, expressed during the meeting in the decision making process. Nino Gvenetadze, a Chair of the Supreme Court of Georgia headed the meeting. Common Court judges, scientists and scholars of law attended the discussion. Archil Kaikatsishvili is an invited member of the Council since April, 2015.
