On July 6, 2015, Archil Kaikatsishvili, a head of the Scientific Advisory Council of the Human Rights and Civil Integration Committee of the Parliament of Georgia introduced a new draft statute of the Council. The draft amendments referred to the powers of the leading officials and secretariat of the Council, as well as to the issues of election and status suspensions of the council members and to the formation of the common public position of the Council. New statute has emphasized, that the work of the Council is provided on the voluntary basis and is not a paid job. The project of the partner organization of the Council should aim at organizational improvement of the council and should promote its ability of implementing thematic work.
According to Archil Kaikatsishvili, practical working conditions revealed made it obvious, that the statute had to be amended. The changes aim to emphasize cooperation between the Council and the Committee in record of the issues of common interests.
For more information: the Scientific-advisory Council of the Human Rights and Civil Integration Committee of the Parliament was created on February 6, 2015, on the basis of the decision of the Chairman of the Committee. The Council consists of the representatives of NGOs and International organizations, as well as of the independent experts and professionals. The Council participates in the process of drafting recommendations, proposals and programs in record of the Human Rights protection and contributes to the effective implementation of the Human Rights reforms. In accordance with new amendments, the Council will have its logo, cover sheet and official web-page.
