“Young Barristers” prepared application to join Civil Society Platform determined by Georgian-EU Association Agreement. The Platform consists of the representatives of UE civic society including European Economic and Social Committee members as well as the representatives of Georgian civic society including the member organizations of the National Platform of Eastern Partnership Civic Society Forum. The Civil Society Platform consists of 18 member organizations, 15 out of which has already been selected from the list of member organizations of the National Platform of Eastern Partnership Civic Society Forum and the competition, which has been finished by August 5, will identify the rest 3 organizations that are not members of the Forum mentioned above. The Platform will mainly work on the following issues: monitor implementation of the Association Agreement Annual Action Plan, draft sufficient recommendations, be actively involved in drafting and implementing 2016 Association Agenda between EU and Georgia, implement advocacy and inform public society.
“Young Barristers” represented a special document, which confirms an experience, motivation and knowledge of the organization in the field of European Integration. This document makes it clear, that one of the main activities of the organization is to promote European integration and increase public awareness in this direction. The organization has started its’ active participation in this process since fall of 2013 through various initiatives, projects and discussions. In February 2015, the organization represented the results of the monitoring “Georgian Government in the Process of Implementation of the Association Agreement.” In April, the NGO Alliance: “From signing Association Agreement to EU membership” was founded on the basis of the initiative, introduced by the “Young Barristers”. Member organizations of the Alliance support European choice of the State and are ready to participate in the process of implementation of the liabilities under the Association Agreement. In July, “Young Barristers” implemented the project “Ethnic Minority Form” within the frameworks of the small grants program on the Eastern Partnership Minorities Network of the “Analytical Center for Interethnic Cooperation and Consultations - ACICC”. In August, the organization held a round table examining EU-Georgia Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area and its impact on Georgian economy. Again in August, one-day training on migration issues, supported by the NGO “Young Barristers” and initiated by the Office of the State Minister of Georgia on European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, was held in Marneuli Public Service Hall for the employees of Kvemo Kartli self- government.
Submitted applications will be considered by the representatives of Friedrich Ebert Foundation, Eurasia Partnership Foundation and the Foundation “Open Society Georgia”. For the first stage, the candidates will be selected on the ground of submitted documentations and those who will satisfy all the requirements will be interviewed during the second stage of selection. “Young Barristers” hopes the organization will meet all the requirements and will have opportunity to be engaged in the process of supporting European Integration. The results of the competition will be announced till September 15, 2015.
