On September 21, 2015, the Georgian NGO Young Barristers attended presentation of the new legislative proposals prepared to improve and comply Personal Data Protection legislation with the European standards. The package of amendments considers relevant changes to 10 different laws, including Georgian Law on the Personal Data Protection. In particular, it envisages expansion of the scope of the law and its spread over almost all kinds of Data proceeding, regulation of audio recording and audio control, like video surveillance; Health, criminal and other special categories of data proceedings transmission to other countries, specification of the grounds of such transmission… proposals, prepared by the personal data protection inspector was also represented during the meeting. The latter referred to the direct marketing as well. Creation of the common web-portal, where every person, implementing direct marketing, shall be obliged to register, has been offered. In addition, this web-portal would make it possible for the citizens to reject undesirable advertising offers. The proposals also suggests to increase the fines, when the rights of more than 100 citizens are violated.
