A Memorandum of Cooperation has been signed between the Georgian NGO Young Barristers and the Legal Issues Commission in Tbilisi City Assembly on December 10, 2015. The Head of Young Barristers, Archil Kaikatsishvili and the Chairman of the Commission, Tedo Kobakhidze, have signed the document. The memorandum aims at the development of partnership, cooperation in the legal field as well as working out joint legislative proposals and increasing youth participation in the public process.
Archil Kaikatsishvili believes, that the memorandum, signed by the parties on December 10, 2015 – International Human Rights Day, will be very fruitful and will successfully achieve its aim to effectively protect human rights through joint effort of the civil and public sector. He also stated during the meeting, that the Chairman of the Legal Issues Commission, Tevdore Kobakhidze, is one of the most active defenders of the human rights in Tbilisi. The organization itself before signing the memorandum had very active cooperation with the Commission and this memorandum will even more strengthen opportunities for cooperation between the parties. Archil Kaikatsishvili also mentioned about the legislative proposal by Tevdore Kobakhidze on the so called “Noise”. This proposal is being considered in the Parliament of Georgia and it is one of the most sensitive problems for the population of the capital.
The organization takes a commitment to provide free legal consultations for the citizens sent to the organization by Tbilisi City Assembly. The organization is currently implementing two projects: “Legal Assistance of the Migrants Returning to Georgia” and “Advocacy of the Women, affected from Tbilisi Flood”. As it was stated during the meeting by Tevdore Kobakhidze, Young Barristers is a NGO stuffed with young and qualified team and cooperation with them will be fruitful and helpful for those citizens, whose rights are violated.
The same day, Tbilisi City Assembly has signed memorandum of cooperation with another Georgian NGO, “Public Defender”, as well.
